Welcome to MJB Counselling. You’ve likely reached this site because you are exhausted and worn down by the life you are currently living. Questioning if this is it, or if it’s possible to live a more peaceful and fulfilling life? And the answer is yes, it is possible to live a more peaceful and fulfilling life. But there are no quick fixes I’m afraid. It takes time, commitment and work.
Through early development shaping and conditioning you are likely to have formed many negative beliefs about yourself, others and the world in general. Along with many repressed emotions that trigger self-sabotaging behaviours and coping strategies. Often, these beliefs, thoughts, emotions and behaviours have become subconscious, which means that you won’t always have conscious awareness of them. All you are aware of is that you are experiencing symptoms such as anxiety, stress, depression, PTSD, physical aches/pains, addictions, insomnia, self-harming behaviours, relational attachment difficulties or low self-worth.
Approaching this website is a good indication that you feel ready to face whatever it is that is affecting your life. Seeking out therapy is not a sign of weakness. On the contrary, it’s a sign of strength as it requires courage to acknowledge and process long repressed emotions. You understand you’re not an island, and that there are people who can you help you in whatever it is you want to achieve, release or resolve.
My name is Melanie Hoggett and I offer counselling, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, life coaching and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to adults, couples and adolescents. My private practice is based in Freethorpe, Norwich, Norfolk, NR13, UK and I offer integrated solutions and strategies for a wide range of presenting issues and support for personal growth. I use energy therapies on a body and emotional level to resolve old negative emotional learning, that often creates dysfunctional life patterns, behaviours and physical symptoms. I also teach somatic experiencing exercises to help calm the nervous system when it becomes distressed.
As a holistic integrative counsellor/therapist I use both traditional and alternative methods within the therapeutic session, whilst maintaining a strong focus on the therapeutic relationship established with clients. I offer you the opportunity to be heard without judgement and endeavour to create a nurturing, safe environment built on respect, integrity and understanding. A place where you can explore your circumstances, understand your feelings, thoughts & behaviours, so that you will be better able to decide on what you need to do to make change happen. During therapy I will strive to help you increase your sense of wholeness, value, self-reliance, self-trust and self-efficacy. As your therapist I act as your guide to help you feel empowered to start to live the life you deserve, and provide you with the tools that will enable you to become your own inner therapist.
